Many people around the world believe in God or in a higher power. Yet life is often full of worry, conflict, and disappointment. If God is real and powerful, why is there still so much pain? Why is peace so rare?
According to the Bible, God has not been silent. From the beginning of time, He has been revealing Himself to humanity. He is not distant. He wants people to know Him — not only through nature, prophets, or religious writings, but most clearly through one Person: Jesus. Christians believe Jesus was not only a prophet or teacher, but the Son of God sent into the world.
Christmas is the celebration of His birth — but why did He come? If His coming was supposed to bring peace, why does the world still feel broken? And what does His life have to do with your life today?
This five-day Bible study will explore these questions directly from the Biblical account. You do not need to be a Christian to join this study. The goal is simple: to understand what the Bible itself says about why Jesus came to earth — and why that matters for us now.
Day Summary: Jesus came in humility to show us what God is truly like and to welcome all kinds of people into relationship with God.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Although Jesus is called the Son of God, He did not come as an earthly king demanding respect or building a political kingdom. He came in humility — born in a simple place, to an ordinary family, with no wealth or army. His mission was not to gain earthly power. He came to serve God, to save sinners, and to show us the way back to God.
While on earth, Jesus spoke God’s words and revealed God’s heart. He showed God’s love toward all kinds of people — not only toward religious or “good” people. Jesus welcomed the poor, the sick, the ashamed, and those who were rejected by society or judged by religious leaders. He spent time with them, listened to them, and met their needs.
The life of Jesus reveals something important about God: God is not simply looking for religious performance — He desires relationship. Jesus came to make that relationship possible.
Prayer
“God, there are many things I don’t understand but if You truly do want me to know who You are, I ask today that You would show me how to know You.

Day Summary: God desires a daily, loving relationship with people, and through Jesus He invites us to become His children.

“But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
Jesus, the Son of God, represented God the Father on earth. There were times when God spoke publicly and declared that He was pleased with Jesus. The close relationship between God and Jesus shows the kind of relationship God desires to have with people. He does not only want ritual, duty, or religious habit. He wants a daily relationship — like that of a loving father with his child.
Through Jesus, God offers people the opportunity to become His children. When a person turns to God through Jesus and asks for forgiveness, God welcomes that person into His eternal family. As His children, we are given both promises and responsibilities — and God also promises to help us live them out. He uses our unique abilities for our good and for His purposes, and this brings Him glory.
Through the life of Jesus, we learn that God is not distant or uninterested. God wants a relationship with us, and Jesus is the way He has made that possible.

“God, if You are inviting me to believe something about Jesus and becoming your child, help me to understand what it is and how to respond to it. Amen.”

Day Summary: The world’s brokenness began when humanity turned from God, but Jesus came to restore peace with God.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Every year the world seems more chaotic, divided, and stressful. It is natural to ask: What is peace? Where is the peace the angels announced when Jesus was born? Has the world ever truly known peace?
In the beginning, when God created everything, His creation perfectly reflected His goodness. There was no pain, no sickness, no death, no violence — only peace between God, people, and the world He made. But that peace did not last. Through one act of disobedience, sin entered the world, and the relationship between God and humanity was broken. From that moment, peace was replaced with the kind of confusion, conflict, and sorrow we see today.
However, God did not leave the world in that broken condition. He promised to send a Savior — someone who would restore what was lost. This is the reason Jesus came. God sent Jesus to repair our broken relationship with Him. The Bible teaches that when we turn to Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and was raised from the dead, we receive the gift of peace with God. This is a deeper peace than circumstances can give.
That is why the birth of Jesus was something worth announcing. When the angels declared, “Peace on earth, goodwill toward mankind,” they were announcing the arrival of the One who could bring people back to God. Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Prayer
“God, help me to see how the brokenness around me and in me affects my life and others. Help me to understand how trying to live by my own rules instead of by Your way has contributed to the brokenness. Help me to find my way back into a relationship with You. I need Your peace.”

Day Summary: Jesus exposes darkness to heal us, guides us out of confusion, and leads us into lasting life.

Key Verse — John 8:12
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
In John 8:12 Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.” He did not claim to be similar to light; He claimed to be the Light. Jesus is the One we can trust to overcome the darkness we see around us and to guide us into real and lasting life.
As the Light, Jesus also reveals the darkness and sin within us. This is not to shame us, but to show us the path to forgiveness, healing, and peace. His light exposes what is harmful so that we can walk away from destructive ways of living.
When we trust in Jesus, we receive the wisdom and guidance we need for life. His Light brings hope and joy and helps us become who God created us to be. Jesus understood the weight and difficulty of life in this world and promised, “I have already overcome.” That means our circumstances do not have to control our peace or our joy.
Jesus is the Light of the World — the Light that leads us home.

“God, I don’t want to stumble along in darkness. I need Your Light in my life. Please help me to respond and to trust You. Amen.”

“I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Humanity has a real spiritual enemy — Satan — who deceived the first people and still works to turn people away from God. Because of sin, our relationship with God was broken, and we cannot repair it by our own efforts.
But God did not abandon us. He made a way for us to be freed from sin, shame, and the devil’s lies. That way is Jesus.
Jesus not only shows us the path back to God — He has the power to make that reconciliation possible. We cannot earn forgiveness on our own, but God sent Jesus to do what we could not do. Jesus was born to be “God with us.” He lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose again after three days. By doing this, He conquered sin, death, and the power of the enemy.
This is why Jesus could say, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
When a person accepts what Jesus did on their behalf — trusting His sacrifice for their sins — they are no longer under judgment. They are freed from the weight of sin and spiritual death. They receive peace with God and a new life with renewed purpose. Jesus holds victory over the shame, lies, and destruction that once ruled us.
Jesus is the hope of Christmas — Emmanuel, God with us.

“God, thank You for keeping Your promise and for sending Jesus to reveal who You are and how we can be restored into a peaceful relationship with You. Amen.”
